Tuesday, January 15, 2008 22:16 [IST]

rushdie_400New Delhi: Controversial writer Salman Rushdie tonight said he did not desire to part ways with model Padma Lakshmi but his life after her was alright. "It was not my choice, not my doing, not my desire that it should happen," he told NDTV.

"It s fine, thank you. It's alright," was Rushdie's response to a query about his life after divorcing model Padma Lakshmi. He said there is a point at which you expect that somebody does not want to be with you and they should not be with you.

The controversial author said he has come to India to be part of his commitment to Gates Foundation and Parmeshwar Godrej to be part of a writing project on HIV/AIDS in India.
