2 Bangladeshi terrorists arrested
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 16:34 [IST]

Kolkata: Two Bangladeshi terrorists suspected to have links with Pakistan's ISI were today arrested from Shibpur in Howrah district of West Bengal.

On a tip off from a CRPF jawan, a team of Special Operation Group, CID arrested the duo from Shalimar under Shibpur police station this morning. "Sk Alamgir, (44) a resident of Feni, and Samim Akhtar, (47) a resident of Dhaka, were involved in supplying secret documents to Bangladesh and Pakistan," Inspector General, Special Operation Group, Rajib Kumar said.

"We suspect that the duo have links with ISI. We need to interrogate them further to come to a definite conclusion," Kumar said. According to CID sources, Samim Akhtar, who has a house in Varanasi which his father left when he went to Pakistan in 1984, used to come to India frequently. "As he had a house in India so his coming to the country was never under any kind of suspicion" the source said.

They used to lure BSF and CRPF jawans so that they supply them secret documents of these forces, CID sources said. A huge amount of blue prints of Army Base Camp of Eastern Command, CDs, secret documents, illegal SIM cards and mobile phones have been seized from them.
