Chandigarh: The minimum temperature remained stable in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today as the mercury was appreciably above normal in the region even as Amritsar recorded the lowest temperature of 3.2 degrees celsius making it coldest place in the plains.
The minimum temperature hovered between one to five degrees celsius above normal in most parts of plains of Punjab an Haryana, the MET office said here.
With a temperature of 3.2 degrees celsius which was one degree below normal, Amritsar continued to be the coldest place in the plains of Punjab and Haryana. Besides Amritsar, most of the other places recorded a minimum temperature which was appreciably above normal.
While Ambala settled at a low of 7.2 degrees celsius, the minimum at Karnal was 7.8 degrees celsius followed by eight degrees celsius at Narnaul, nine degrees ceslius at Chandigarh and 9.6 degrees celsius at Patiala.
While the minimum temperature at Hisar was five degrees celsius above normal, it was four and three degrees celsius above normal at Ludhiana and Narnaul respectively.
The MET office predicted light to moderate rains or thundershowers at many places of Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
The region may also be hit by thundersquall or hailstorm with a wind speed exceeding 45 km per hour at isolated places, the MET office said.
