Man killed while trying to board bus

New Delhi: A man was killed today when the rear wheels of a private bus which he was trying to board crushed him in north Delhi, taking the number of those killed in blueline accidents this year, to three.

Sanjay and his nephew Arjun were trying to get into a bus when the former slipped and came under the rear wheels in the Azadpur market area, police said. Sanjay was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The driver of the bus is absconding. The blueline buses earned notoriety as it claimed 128 lives last year in the National Capital Region. In 2006,109 people lost their lives in accidents involving buses. The bluelines were involved in 376 accidents last year as compared to 371 in 2006.
