New Delhi: Following the outbreak of birdflu in West Bengal, Delhi Government has decided to hold a high-level meeting headed by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit tomorrow to review its preparedness to face any eventuality from the deadly disease.
"Though no case of bird flu has been reported in the city, we are taking all precautionary measures to counter threat of the deadly disease," a senior government official said here. The meeting will be attended by senior officials from the departments of Animal Husbandry and Health besides MCD and NDMC.
On its part, Agriculture Produce Marketing Board has deputed six doctors to check the poultry arriving in the city, round the clock. "We have also sanitised the Ghazipur slaughter house and taken several steps to deal with the situation in case if happens," APMB chairman Brahm Yadav said.
He said the veterinary officers and veterinary pharmacists of the department have been given special training on prevention and control of the disease. Similarly, health departments is in the process of issuing instructions to the hospitals to be taken to ward off the threat.
