476 militancy related incidents in 2007 in J-K

Jammu: As many as 476 militancy-related incidents took place in Jammu and Kashmir in 2007 in which 147 people lost their lives and 159 others received injuries.

 The incidents have taken place between January and December last year in which some properties were also damaged, State's Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Taj Mohideen told the State Assembly today, on behalf of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

He said Rs 55 lakh has been disbursed to the next of kin of some deceased till now.

Mohideen said Rs 3.68 lakh have been given to injured persons for treatment and Rs 18.25 lakh paid to owners of different gutted properties. The Minister was replying to a question of PDP MLA Nizam-udin Bhat during question hour.
