Canada Navy help Pak fishermen in Gulf of Oman
Saturday, January 26, 2008 09:44 [IST]

Ottawa: The Canadian Navy said it helped 18 fishermen who were adrift in a boat that ran out of fuel off the coast of Pakistan.

The crew of the Navy ship Charlottetown on Thursday responded to a distress signal from the "Al-Rahman" fishing vessel with 18 Pakistanis on board that was adrift in the Gulf of Oman, the Navy said yesterday in a statement.

The Canadian vessel, which is collaborating with US-led forces fighting terrorism in the Gulf region, filled the fishing vessel's fuel tanks and helped it get on its way.
