Vadodara: Pakistan marine security agency has arrested ten Indian fishermen and seized two boats for allegedly straying into the neighbouring country's water, Gujarat Fishermen Association (GFA) said today.
The fishermen arrested last night belonged to Porbandar and Wanakbara, GFA general secretary Jivanlal Jungi told PTI. There were five fishermen in each of the two boats, New Lakshmi and Barsat, owned by Ranchhodbhai Buhddhu, a resident of Porbandar, he added.
With this, the total number of Indian fishermen in Pakistani custody has gone up to 382 from 372, while the number of boats seized by them goes up from 338 to 340, Jungi said. The arrests were confirmed by their counterparts in Pakistan, National Fishermen Forum secretary Manish Lodhasri told PTI.
Meanwhile, Jungi alleged that Pakistani marine security agency has been making wrong allegations of fishermen straying into their territory before arresting them. The arrests were made from Arabian Sea near Jakhau port bordering with Pakistan.
