Freedom fighter dies after being honoured

Madurai: A 84-year-old freedom fighter fainted and died after he was honoured during the Republic Day celebrations in Dindigul district today, reports reaching here said.

Periyasamy fainted after he was honoured by District Collector Vasuki and was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital but he died, hospital sources said. The sources said he had not taken any food, leading to a drop in blood sugar level.
