Haryana seeks CBI probe into kidney racket
Friday, February 01, 2008 13:15 [IST]

Chandigarh: Haryana government has recommended to the Centre to hand over to CBI the probe into the kidney racket which is spread over several states and has international links.

After getting a detailed report from state DGP R S Dalal, the state government had written a letter to the Centre urging it to hand over the probe into the kidney scandal to the CBI, Haryana Home Secretary K S Bhoria said today.

The state Government was of the opinion that a CBI probe is needed as the kidney scandal is spread over several states and its links are associated internationally.

However, Haryana police would continue its probe into the kidney scandal pending a CBI investigation. The Centre has already expressed its desire that the case be probed by the CBI.

Four persons have so far been arrested in connection with the kidney transplantation racket. Gurgaon-based doctor Dr Amit Kumar, who is the kingpin of the racket, is absconding.
