Major fire in Kanpur, 50 shops gutted

Kanpur: Over 50 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at a godown in Parampurwa area here this morning, fire officials said.

No was injured in the fire that broke out at the tyre godown around 2:00 am, which later engulfed some 50 shops situated nearby, Chief Fire Officer of Kanpur D P Shukla said.

Twenty four fire engines were rushed to the spot and fire was brought under control after five hours, he said.
