Students union leader shoots student

Meerut: A students union leader shot at and wounded an MBA student just outside the campus of Chaudhry Charan Singh University here today.

The University's students union General Secretary Vishal Saraswat fired at Rohit, an MBA student in the same University, when the latter was sitting in a rickshaw outside the university campus, Superintendent of Police (City) Rakesh Jolly said.

Saraswat fled in a motorcycle immediately after shooting Rohit, he said. Rohit was rushed to a local hospital where his condition is stable, said the official, adding, efforts are on to nab the culprit.

The cause of the attack is being investigated. In another incident assailants fired upon a 40-year-old man Deshpal in Gaurala area of the town last night.

The man died on way to the hospital, SSP Jyoti Narayan said, adding, an FIR against four persons named Anit, Sohanbir, Bhupinder and Harender has been lodged in connection with the incident.
