Sunday, February 10, 2008 20:15 [IST]
Multan: Villagers in central Pakistan surrounded and killed at least 15 bandits early today during an attempted robbery, police said.

The incident took place in a village near Sahiwal district, some 160 kilometres east of Multan city, senior police official Malik Daud Ahmad told AFP.

"Fifteen bandits of a notorious gang were shot dead by villagers after they broke into a compound for looting," Ahmad said.

The gang had committed several robberies in the area and the people of the village were alert and no one was injured on their side, he said.
