French artwork stolen in Zurich

London: A large chunk of artwork, valued at 47 million pounds, has been stolen from a museum in Zurich, Swiss police sources said today.

An armed gang has stolen the paintings, which included masterpieces by French Impressionists Cezanne, Degas, Dutch artist Van Gogh and Monet from the Zurich museum, the BBC News reported, quoting the unnamed police sources as saying.

According to the sources, the robbery took place on Sunday.
