Mumbai: Tilak Nagar residents are worried over unauthorised construction, covering of nullah and other irregularities allegedly undertaken by a developer in the area.
Residents of Kalpana Shrusti, 13th Road, at Tilak Nagar, said with the illegal constructions by developers they would end up as unauthorised occupants without an OC. What they are more worried about is the fact that as unauthorised occupants they would be charged twice the property tax.
The eight-storey structure was built a year ago after the residents of old tenements agreed for the building’s reconstruction. Kamal Govil, who owns a flat in the B wing of the building, said, “The developer has built an office in the stilt area. When we complain, he boasts of political links.” VT Shetty, another resident, said, “He has not even provided for separate septic tanks and a different entry point for the residents of two buildings.”
Developer Chinnaiah EV Gowda said, “I have submitted the proposal to BMC for their approval. If it finds anything illegal I will demolish it myself.”
Anil Manohar of building proposal department said, “We visited the site. The developer has submitted an amended proposal for the construction on the stilt premises. If it can be regularised we will do so or else rectify the error.”
