Militant hideout busted

Srinagar: Two suspected terrorists were arrested and a militant hideout was busted by army during search operations in south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Shopian today, a defence spokesperson said.

Aziz Ahmad Bhat and Ashiq Hussain Ahenger were arrested by troops of 7 Rashtriya Rifles from Uttarsu area in Anantnag district, the spokesperson said.

He said the duo were handed over to the police for further investigation. Troops of 62 Rashtriya Rifles and the police jointly launched a search operation at Khajapura area in Shopian and busted a militant hideout there, the spokesperson said.

The recoveries included 27 under-barrel grenade launchers, two radio sets, seven antennas, 15 electric timed device detonators, two Improvised Explosive Device frames and 16 detonators, he said.
