Nashik limps back to normalcy
Thursday, February 14, 2008 19:35 [IST]
Nashik: The city was limping back to normalcy as commercial establishments, shops were opened this morning after two days of stone-pelting and arsons in some localities.

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation restored its city bus service this morning which were suspended briefly for a couple of times since Tuesday after MNS activists allegedly pelted stones on several MSRTC buses and even set ablaze a bus near CIDCO yesterday, Corporation sources said.

Some laundry-shops, belonging to north-Indians, were also seen opened on Gangapur road locality today. All schools and colleges functioned normally while auto-rickshaws were also plying on the roads.

Police have rounded up more than 200 MNS activists as well as anti-social elements since the past three days while MNS leaders Vasant Gite and others were released on bail this morning after their preventive arrest yesterday.

Tight security is being maintained in the city as a precautionary measure.
