Taslima happy over visa extension
Thursday, February 14, 2008 23:44 [IST]

New Delhi: Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen, whose visa was extended to stay in India beyond February 17,tonight expressed gratitude to the government but remained concerned over curbs on her movement and freedom of expression.

"I'm very grateful to the Indian government", she told PTI reacting to extension of her visa.

It was a nice feeling getting the visa extension but "the curbs on freedom of my movement and expression would remain", she told PTI from an undisclosed place where she has been staying for security reasons ever since being bundled out of Kolkata following violent protests by a radical Islamic group in November last year against her stay there.

Nasreen said she would like to return to Kolkata and expressed the hope that the restrictions on her movement and expression would go in course of time.
