New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today issued notice to Punjab government on reports of denial of treatment to an accident victim in hospitals run by it.
The NHRC asked Punjab Chief Secretary to look into the allegations that one Amar Singh who met with an accident near Chandigarh Railway station was denied any treatment at two government hospitals and asked him to submit an action taken report on the matter within six weeks.
Taking suo motu action on the matter, the Commission said the news report noted that Singh's leg was severely injured and he had been virtually immobilised due to the accident.
The victim needed an immediate surgery but he did not get any treatment in government hospitals in sector 16 and sector 32 in Chandigarh, it said adding Singh was lying at a bus stop adjacent to the CBI office for some time with out receiving any help. Source : PTI
