Centre aids Rs 8000 cr for flood management

New Delhi: With floods wreaking havoc every year across the country, the Centre has approved Rs 8,000 crore for flood management during the 11th Plan period.

Under the scheme, state governments would be provided necessary assistance for taking up works for river management, flood control, anti-erosion, drainage development and restoration of damaged flood management works in the country.

The scheme would also cover the remaining works recommended by Task Force on Flood Management/Erosion Control in Ganga Basin and Brahmaputra Basin, an official release said.
