Vijayawada: There is a possibility of Lok Sabha elections being held before schedule and the BJP was preparing itself in case the polls are conducted early, a senior party leader from Andhra Pradesh said today.

The present political scenario in the country is conducive for the saffron outfit to come to power at the Centre, K Haribabu, a member of the BJP's National Executive, told reporters here. He was speaking to reporters after a meeting of party's state executive here. Appointment of senior leader L K Advani as NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate has been received well by the members of the BJP-led alliance, he said.

Referring to "failures" of the ruling coalition at the Centre, he said the UPA Government had failed to provide remunerative price to the farmers, adding to their plight. As many as 2,600 farmers have committed suicide in Andhra Pradesh, where Congress is in power, Haribabu claimed.

Rise in prices of essential commodities and the last week's hike in petrol and diesel rates have put enormous burden on the common man, he said. The Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh, in power since 2004, has failed to fulfil its pre-election promises and all schemes launched by it have come cropper, the BJP leader said.
