Sao Paulo: Three small boys left alone by their mother were killed when fire swept through their home in southeastern Brazil, a fire department official has said.
The fire that killed the boys - ages three, five and seven - occurred late Monday night after a candle apparently "fell on a heap of clothes and blankets," said Lt Alexandre de Castro of the fire department in Marilia, the city where the fire took place
"Their mother put the brothers to bed in the same bedroom, lit some candles and went out," said Castro, adding that it wasn't clear where the mother went. He said candles were used because the power had been cut off due to unpaid bills.
