Accra: US President George W Bush today said that Pakistan's elections have been judged as "fair" and that the opposition parties win is a "victory for the people of Pakistan."
Speaking at a news conference in Ghana during his trip to Africa, Bush declared that the people of Pakistan "have spoken".
The opposition parties victory in election could force President Pervez Musharraf to leave or share power.
The pro-Musharraf party lost badly, and conceded defeat before the final tally.
Still, Bush said he sees the Pakistani elections as a "victory in the war on terror". He said that now is time for the newly elected politicians to form their government, one he says hopes will be a friend of the United States and an ally in the war against radical extremists.
