Man accused of possessing migratory bird, released

New Delhi: A court here today granted bail to a person accused of allegedly possessing 75 Japanese Quails, commonly known as tittar and a species of migratory birds.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Alok Aggarwal granted bail to Ashok Bhugra (42), who was arrested by the Wild Life authorities yesterday, and ordered him to furnish a bail bond of Rs 25,000 and a surety of the same amount.
According to the Wild Life authorities, Bhugra, was arrested near Kashmere gate in North Delhi while serving the meat of Japanese Quail, as one of the dishes in his hotel.
Kashish Batra, counsel for Bhugra, while arguing for his bail told the court that he had a valid license issued by the Chief Wild Life Warden, GNCT, Delhi in 1989 for serving the meat.
Bhugra was booked under sections 9,44,49,50 and 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act. Source : PTI
