6000 kg of gelatine seized, 7 arrested in Bihar
Saturday, February 23, 2008 11:28 [IST]

Nawada (Bihar): In a major explosives haul in Bihar, police today seized 6000 kg of gelatine in Nawada district from a truck bound for naxalite-hit districts in the state and arrested seven persons.

Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said the truck loaded with explosives was intercepted near Makhor village under Akbarpur police station of the district.

The vehicle was on way from some place in Rajasthan and the explosives were to be delivered in naxalite-hit Sheikhpura, Jamui, Lakhisarai and Munger districts.

He, however, said it was too early to conclude that the consignment was meant for naxalites as these could be used for illegal stone quarrying in these districts. The arrested were being interrogated, he said.
