18 injured in Lanka bus explosion

Colombo: A powerful bomb went off inside a passenger bus today on the outskirts of the Sri Lanka capital, leaving 18 people injured, including seven women and an eight-month-old baby.

The private bus was completely destroyed in the explosion at Mt Lavinia and a motor cycle in the vicinity was also damaged, the Defence ministry said.

It said police have launched an investigation into the blast, which left 18 people injured.
