Friday, March 07, 2008 14:24 [IST]

Kathmandu: Former Nepalese Prime Minister and President of Rastriya Janashakti Party, Surya Bahadur Thapa has said his party was not pro-monarchist.

The RJP will accept the people's verdict, said Thapa. All the major political parties including the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN, UML and Maoists have said that they would go for democratic republic system during the election.

RJP would also accept the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly deciding on the fate of the monarchy, state run The Rising Nepal quoted Thapa as saying.

Thapa expressed the confidence that the country would get a way out following the CA elections.

Monarchy has been suspended in the new interim constitution and the Nepal's parliament has endorsed a proposal to declare Nepal a republic abolishing monarchy after the election of constituent assembly on April 10.

Meanwhile, the political parties have intensified the election publicity throughout the country after reaching agreements with various agitating groups.

There are reports of holding mass meetings and door to door campaigns across the nation.
