CPI-M calls for suspension of question hour
Monday, March 10, 2008 11:50 [IST]

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday gave notices in both houses of Parliament for suspension of question hour to raise the issue of attack on the party office allegedly by Rashtriya Seva Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In the Lok Sabha, Mohammed Salim has given the notice and in Rajya Sabha politburo member Sitaram Yechury will raise the issue.

A 250-strong mob attacked the CPI-M headquarters here on Sunday, injuring 10 Left activists and eight policemen.

Yechuri blamed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists for the attack and said, "What else do you expect from people who did not leave even Mahatama Gandhi? They have simply revealed their fascist face."

Maintaining that the attack was unprovoked, Yechuri denied it was in retaliation of any attacks by Left party workers against BJP and RSS workers in Kannur and elsewhere in Kerala.
