Left, BJP clash in RS; House adjourns
Monday, March 10, 2008 13:16 [IST]
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha was adjourned today for half-an-hour following clash between the Left and BJP members over violence at CPI-M headquarters here yesterday.

As soon as Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan called CPI-M member Sitaram Yechuri to raise his zero hour mention regarding the incident, BJP members sprang to their feet protesting against attack on its workers at Kannur in Kerala.

This led to sharp reaction from the Left benches and the House witnessed noisy scenes with Congress, RJD and Samajwadi Party supporting the Left. On the other hand, Shiv Sena and BJD joined hands with BJP whose members stormed the well shouting slogans against CPI-M and Congress.

Both BJP and Left members waved newspaper clippings showing pictures of violence.
