Monday, March 10, 2008 13:46 [IST]

Kathmandu: Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala ruled out the possibility of the government holding dialogue with armed Madhesi rebel groups before the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.

Since dialogues one after another is disturbing the election environment, the government will not hold further dialogue with any armed group, Prime Minister Koirala said yesterday, while talking to journalists at his home in Biratnagar, Kantipur reported.

The government is not in favour of spending any time on talks now on the eve of polls, he said. An atmosphere for polls has been created after the government and United Democratic Madhesi Front signed a deal, he added.

Agreement has been reached on the main problems of tarai and armed groups should also respect the agreement, Korala said adding, The government will beef up security within a few days and enforce law and order very strictly.

Remarking on the monarchy he that he just wanted to end dictatorship in the country, be it of King Gyanendra, Girija Prasad himself or someone else's.

Meanwhile Nepalese Peace and Reconstruction Minister Ram Chander Poudel yesterday blamed the royal palace for attemting to disrupt the democratic process by infiltrating the Madhesi and dalit movement rank and file. Conspiracy is still alive to disrupt the polls, he said.
