New Delhi: Senior BJP leader L K Advani's tumultuous political journey, his association with RSS and his relationship with A B Vajpayee will all be in public domain soon with his memoir set to hit the stands later this month.
The book titled My Country, My Life , will give a first hand account of the rise of BJP, majorly aided by the veteran leader's Somnath-Ayodhya rath yatra in the early 1990s, and its tryst with power.
Interestingly, the book speaks about his controversial visit to Pakistan, the failed Agra talks between Vajpayee and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Kargil intrusion and the Kandahar hijacking episode.
Advani had to quit as BJP president after he came in for all round criticism from RSS and party hardliners for his praise of Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah during a visit to that country in 2006.
It recounts Advani's migration to India from Sindh in Pakistan after partition, his association with the RSS at the tender age of 14 and the evolution of BJP's earlier avatar Bharatiya Jan Sangh.
The book will also spell out BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate's ideas on secularism, democracy, national integration, development and governance, a plank on which the party is planning to contest Lok Sabha polls. Source : PTI
