Suicide car bomb blows up near Kabul airport
Thursday, March 13, 2008 11:11 [IST]

Kabul: A suicide car bomber targeted a vehicle near Kabul's airport on Thursday morning, causing an unknown number of casualties, the police said.

The bomber detonated his explosives-packed vehicle near a bus stop on the airport road during rush hour, said a police official at the scene of the attack who asked not to be identified.

The explosion was large and "I think there might be a lot of casualties", he said. Witness Ahmad Nejad said several cars were damaged and ambulances had arrived at the scene.

Several suicide bombers targeted Afghan and international forces on the same road last year.
