Islamabad: The "presidency" had made as many as 21 attempts to create rift among the opposition political parties that are set to form the government after sweeping the February 18 general election in Pakistan, a senior PML-N leader alleged today.
The presidency was also creating hurdles in the formation of governments in Punjab and Balochistan provinces, Javed Hashmi, a top leader of former premier Nawaz Sharif's party, said.
He said the presidency had made 21 attempts to create rift among the parties that are to form the new government.
There had been no change in Sharif's stand that Pervez Musharraf is an "illegal" and "unconstitutional" president. The supremacy of the constitution and reinstatement of judges deposed during last year's emergency would be the first priority of the new government, Hashmi said.
Hashmi said there could be a "confrontation" between the new National Assembly and the presidency if Musharraf did not respect the will of the people. The people wanted the deposed judges restored because they had been removed unconstitutionally, he said. Source : PTI
