New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India will be closed for a week from on Monday on account of the Holi, Milad-un-Nabi and Good Friday festivals.

According to the apex court's calendar, it will take the week-long vacation from March 17 to March 22, though three festivals fall at the fag-end of the week. While Milad-un-Nabi and Good Friday fall on Friday, Holi is being celebrated on Saturday, March 22.

For the apex court, the break began on Saturday, effectively making it a nine-day holiday. During Holi, even the apex court's registry will be closed and it will not be possible for anybody to move it even on an urgent matter. Only in cases of extreme urgency, can one, including the government, directly approach a senior Supreme Court judge at his residence and seek his intervention.

The government, however, will get only on Friday and Saturday as holidays. The high courts and lower courts too will have only two days off - Friday and Saturday. Sunday is a weekly holiday throughout India.
