School Leaving Certificate exam begins in Nepal

Kathmandu: A total of 379,377 students are appearing for 2008 School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination, which kicked off throughout the country today.

The SLC is the Indian equivalent of tenth standard. Among the students who are appearing in the SLC exams, 54 per cent are boys and rest are girls.

Over 13,000 security personnel are deployed to guard 1,299 centres in 75 districts across the country, the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) said.

The OCE has rescheduled the exams two weeks ahead of the usual time keeping in view the upcoming Constituent Assembly polls slated on April 10.
