2 cops killed, 10 injured in Swat suicide attack
Monday, March 17, 2008 21:36 [IST]

Islamabad: Two policemen were killed and 10 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police barrack in Pakistan's northwestern Swat valley today.

The suicide attacker, described by eyewitnesses as a teenager, climbed over the wall surrounding the police lines at Mingora, the headquarters of Swat district, and detonated his explosives. The explosion was heard from several kilometres away and created panic in the area.

The dead were identified as a station house officer and a constable, officials said. Over 40 people were killed in Mingora on February 29 when a suicide bomber struck during the funeral prayers of a police officer slain by militants.
