Washington: At least four FBI agents were among the injured in the powerful blast that rocked a popular restaurant in the heart of the Pakistani capital, ABC television reported today.
A 50-year-old Turkish woman was killed and 15 people, including several personnel of the US embassy, a British diplomat and two Japanese journalists, were injured in the bombing at Luna Caprese restaurant in Islamabad on Saturday.
"Multiple sources said that the attack was under investigation to see whether it was based on the terrorists having learned in advance of the agents presence," the ABC report said.
"In Washington, meanwhile, officials downplayed the possibility that the attack specifically targeted the agents based on advance intelligence," it said.
A sizeable number of citizens of Western nations, including several employees of the US embassy, were present in the restaurant at the time of the explosion.
