Bomb hoax at Dawn office in Islamabad

Islamabad: The office of the Dawn newspaper and its sister news channel was evacuated here today after a caller claimed that a bomb had been planted in the premises.

A bomb disposal squad searched the building for 45 minutes but did not find any explosive materials, officials said.

An anonymous caller said an explosive device had been planted in the building in the Zero Point area after which the the office was evacuated by police.

The adjoining buildings were also evacuated and searched. People were allowed to return to the buildings and resume work after they were declared safe by the bomb disposal squad.

The area around the Dawn office has the offices of several other newspapers and publications.
