Kathmandu: Nepalese police today arrested over 30 Tibetan demonstrators here who were demanding a UN probe into China's crackdown on pro-independence protests in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital.
Around 200 Tibetan refugees and monks took part in the demonstration in front of the UN office in Kathmandu. All detained have been taken to Mahargunj police station, officials said.
More than 100 Tibetan refugees including five monks and a nun were arrested and a dozen others injured yesterday when police used batons to disperse a similar protest at the same venue.
Last week in Lhasa, the biggest pro-independence protests by Tibetans in two decades claimed at least 13 lives, spawning similar protests by Tibetan exiles around the globe, including in India. Source : PTI
