Britain's ruling Labour Party trails oppn by 13 pt
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 22:52 [IST]

London: A newspaper poll suggests that economic woes have pushed support for Britain's ruling Labour Party to a historic low.

The Guardian-ICM poll published today shows support for Britain's ruling Labour Party trailing the opposition Conservatives by 13 per cent.

The poll puts Labour support at 29 per cent, the lowest since The Guardian polling series began in 1984. Conservative support has risen to 42 per cent.

Although support or Labour and Prime Minister Gordon Brown was initially high when he came to power last year, financial turmoil and a series of government blunders have apparently sapped public confidence.
