Romanian soldier killed in mine blast in Afghanistan

Bucharest: A Romanian soldier was killed and another injured in a mine blast in Afghanistan, the Romanian Defence Ministry said.

The soldiers were on patrol on Thursday in the southern province of Zabul when their vehicle drove over the device.

Romania has a 646-strong contingent in Afghanistan. Out of these 562 have been deployed as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and 84 as part of US-led coalition troops.
