Mumbai: Expressing concerns over piracy in the Indian film industry, the Information and Broadcasting ministry today said the films should be released simultaneously on various forms of media to put an end to the scourge.
"Filmmakers should consider releasing the movies on various mediums (like internet, home video) making the product easily available in the market due to which people would not resort to buying the pirated version," Asha Swarup, Secretary Information and Broadcasting said at the FICCI Frames conference here.
FICCI had submitted a draft proposal for a legislation to combat piracy but we found that it creates a regime of inspectors which does not fit in with the pattern of modernisation, Swarup said.
The IB ministry is also planning to start a national museum of films in Mumbai and the preliminary work for the institution has begun, she added. Source : PTI
