'Bureaucrats need to keep pace with technology'
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 12:56 [IST]

suresh_pachauriNew Delhi: Civil servants should keep pace with developments in modern technology to serve the country better, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Suresh Pachauri today said.

"We need to make efforts to ensure that our officers remain fully motivated," Pachauri said in his inaugural address at a seminar on Human Resources Management-- Revisited.

Observing that differences of opinion among the officers need to be encouraged, Pachauri said, "We also need to build an environment where creativity is not killed by failure". "We have to motivate our officers and staff to excel in modern day technology," he added.

With the advent of globalisation and consequent liberalisation of the country's policies, it becomes important that the grass-root levels of the government machinery is groomed well so that the staff manning these posts become receptive to the changes in the world and are enabled to initiate and implement new concepts in their day-to-day working, Pachauri said.
