Sydney: An Australian toddler who saved his mother's life by phoning emergency services has been nominated for a bravery award, national radio reported on Wednesday.

Three-year-old Noah Opris called 000 on Monday and said his mother, who suffers from epileptic fits, was asleep on the floor and bleeding.

Police and ambulance paramedics raced to the house in a Melbourne suburb and found Noah at home with his nine-month-old brother and their mother, who was lying unconscious.

Emergency services spokesman Wayne Debernardi said Noah was a true hero.

"This is a positive reminder to teach children at a young age of what is required in the case of an emergency. Call 000 and know where the emergency is and what it is," he said.
