New Delhi: An innocuous remark by Rahul Gandhi that he has an edge because of his surname was today used by BJP to attack Congress of practising dynastic politics.

Reacting to Gandhi's remark, BJP general secretary Anant Kumar said his comment is revealing as it only proves their charge that there was no internal democracy in the Congress and it promotes a family.

"The other name of Congress is dynasty. What he has said is true," Kumar said when asked to react to Gandhi's comments in Mangalore.

Obviously targetting Sonia Gandhi, who recently completed ten years as Congress President, he sarcastically said the phenomenon of having "life-long" presidents only occurs in Congress.

"There was a time when both Congress president and Prime Minister used to be the same person," he added.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi candidly admitted that he has an edge in politics due to his surname and his progress in the present Indian political system would not have been easy if he was not "connected to somebody".
