New Delhi: Noting that India was seeking to evolve into a global economy, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh remarked that the "best is yet to come" for the country despite a "whole lot of challenges".
Interacting with a group of foreign journalists here, Singh said despite being a country with over one billion population with diversities, India was fulfilling all its obligations to be a civilised society.
"India takes pride in being an open society and polity," he said.
India is a country with over one billion people and "we are facing a whole lot of challenges. But we are committed to human rights and respect for law," Singh said.
He said the country was seeking to evolve into a global economy. "The best is yet to come. The next 50 years are going to be more productive," the Prime Minister told the foreign correspondents.
