The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police informed the court that Dr Upender, an aide of Dr Amit Kumar who had allegedly bribed them to escape police action, took part in the TIP.

The two constables, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinder Kumar Singh and others, had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs 19.85 lakh from Dr Upender, a close aide of Dr Amit, for letting him off after he was grilled in connection with the infamous case.

According to the police, Dr Upender had made a disclosure statement alleging that he had paid money to the policemen.

So far, three policemen have been arrested. Apart from the two constables produced in court today, the third policemen to be arrested is ASI Ravinder Kumar Singh. Singh was arrested on February 14 and Dr Upender had identified him in a TIP conducted in jail on March 18.

The policemen have been booked under various sections of the IPC including 384 (extortion), 385 (putting persons in fear for extorting money), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
