Lakme Fashion week kicks off at Mumbai

Mumbai: The Lakme Fashion Week kicked off in south Mumbai today, featuring some of India's best known designers and models.

The five-day-long event being held at the National Centre for Performing Arts in south Mumbai began today with designer J J Vallaya presenting his collection. Over 50 designers are expected to participate in the event which will continue till April 2.

Other designers who are featuring their collections today include Bollywood favourite Manish Malhotra and well-known designers Krishna Mehta and Arjun Khanna. Designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Nandita Mahtani, Neeta Lulla, Narendra Kumar and Pria Kataria Puri are among others who will also showcase their designs.

The Lakme Grand Finale fashion show will be presented by designer Wendell Rodricks. Nine emerging designers will also be exhibiting their works. Organisers expect many international buyers at the event including Elsye Kroll from the Coterie in New York and Albert Morris representing the firm Browns.
