Two US soldiers killed in eastern Baghdad

Baghdad: Militants killed two US soldiers in eastern Baghdad in a bomb attack on their vehicle today, the American military said.

The military did not specify the exact location of the attack, which happened at 5:30 pm (2000 IST). US troops and Iraqi forces are engaged in fierce fighting with Shiite militants in Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, a bastion of anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

The latest deaths bring the US military's losses in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 4,007,according to an AFP tally based on the independent website icasualties.org.
