Karachi: The Supreme Commander of the Muttahida Jehad Council, an umbrella organisation of Kashmiri militant organisations and chief of Hizbul Mujahideen Kashmir, Syed Salahuddin, has said that Kashmiri Mujahideen can give up armed struggle if India agrees to hold tripartite negotiations.
He also linked giving up struggle with a solution to the Kashmir issue on the basis of UN resolutions. Addressing a press conference here last evening, he said the Kashmiri people would not accept the formula for Kashmir's division or internal autonomy for the region.
Syed Salahuddin said Mujahideen rejected two ceasefire offers of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He claimed that their movement was about to succeed when the apologetic attitude of the then-Pakistani government caused irreparable loss to the Kashmir cause.
